What are you hiding behind?

The title of this blog, “A Recovering Good Girl” comes from the book Grace for the Good Girl. This is a book that I have been going through for a while. This book opens wounds in your life that you never thought you even had. I know, sounds great right?! I mean, who doesn't want to open up those wounds that you've suppressed! We all have our secrets and we all hide behind some sort of facade. I have hidden behind same "good girl" facade for many years; keeping my secrets safe inside my heart so that no one will know who I truly am. Yet the silence of my soul screams and cries for someone to help the broken girl inside. I drown in the lies that shout, “I’m not good enough”, “I’m a failure” and “I’m not beautiful enough”, but I know there is something more than that, something greater.

We are all broken in our own way and we all live behind some sort of facade. So the purpose of this blog isn't to pour out my feelings, but to show people that they are not alone in their journey; to uncover the sin in our lives that keep us from experiencing the true freedom, grace and love that God offers us.  Underneath all the fears, failures, lies and anxieties that we have is a child of God that is created uniquely and set apart from everyone and everything else.
